Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actor, singer and writer. In her early years she was subjected to racial taunts by American citizens of all races. After she participated in a school competition and received high praise for her singing, in ninth grade, the girl began to grow more confident. This experience did not just help to boost her confidence, but also changed her goals in life. She was a graduate of the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. At the age of 23, she started her career in Broadway in the Paul Simon musical The Capeman. Then, when she was 23 she made her film debut in You've got mail. Her biggest breakthrough was when she appeared in the part in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway show Spamalot winning not just her the Tony Award for her performance as well as a lot of critical praise. The recognition grew even more by appearing on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. A well-known performer, she has also recorded songs and plays. Also, she's been an advocate for LGBT concerns.
